In 2021 we decided to jump on an opportunity to build a getaway on a beautiful one-acre lot in Calabogie, east of Ottawa. We realize it’s a perfect “wilderness experience” and a great way to showcase what our team can do. The property will be available for rental, likely by December of this year.

Log Cabin & Bunkie

The main house will be designed to accommodate one large family or two smaller families. It will feature two master bedrooms on the main floor with a shared en suite. Two other bedrooms will be located in the walkout basement, each with a couple of bunk beds.

The bunkie will be a one bedroom with a sleeping loft. It will be able to accommodate a family or a couple looking for a sweet little wilderness retreat.

Watch for details about how to rent our new wilderness retreat as the year progress!

In the trees

With a beautiful range of hardwood and softwood, the lot offers privacy and peace.

It will also provide us with some wood for our log cabin and bunkie.

The main house’s foundation will be 28′ x 40′ and will include a walkout basement on the deck side of the cabin. A low monopitch roof (8′) at entry will give way to high (14′) ceilings in the main living space.

We’ll use post and beam with round log rafters.

A portion of the deck will be screened-in.

It all starts with a sketch

We’re in the process of finalizing our designs right now, but we thought it would be fun to show that our ideas also start out simple.

The classic “back of a napkin” design is shown here on the back of a receipt.

Great ideas have to start somewhere!
